Description

Lyrognathus achilles is a species of tarantula spider found in Borneo. It was named by West and Nunn in 2010 and is found at Gunung Nibung, Kotawaringin Barat. The tarantula has an ectal lyrate region with more than 95 strikers in eight horizontal rows. The strikers are strongest and longest on the lowest rows. Lyrognathus are fossorial, meaning they construct tubular burrows in loose clayey soil. They use organic debris and vegetation to make the mouth of the burrow.
